AUDITION FAQ
NERVES
First of all, take a slow, deep breath! Make sure you are breathing from your belly. Now take one more breath. Then another. The first thing to go in any audition is your breath support. You will slow down your heart rate & even your thoughts as you focus on slowing your respiration.

Next, know that your teachers are also musicians and have been in your shoes. It is normal to get nervous and we know this. We are on your side. Always. The good news is the more you audition the better you get at it!
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
We don't expect flawless perfection, just do your best. We want to hear you sing & get to know more about you to see where you fit best.
PRACTICING
Practice helps you become more confident & work out any "hard" parts. Make sure that you practice the sections you need to, not just the beginning or the part you love the most. Once you've gotten a hard part down by itself add it back in to the whole thing. Transitions are really important.
RETURNING STUDENTS
Currently, concert choir students that wish to stay in a concert choir for the next school year do NOT have to re-audition. However, returning show choir & a cappella choir students MUSTÂ re-audition each year. This is due to limited space in a cappella groups and the different show choirs offered. This is the only way to be fair to all applicants.
